My Trail Reviews (18)

(within last 6 months)
Manchester (Manchester Creek) (01/08/2023)
Covered in a bit more snow than rule ridge but nothing that caused any traction issues. Nice day for wheeling with just a little snow.
Little Creek Ridge (01/08/2023)
Trail is a little sloppy I. The thicker snow areas, nothing that slowed the rig down but definitely more slop in the drive. Had some great views of Pikes Peak from behind d which is fun.
Boulevard (01/08/2023)
Has more snow than rule ridge but nothing to bad or challenging. Nice little connector.
Rule Ridge (01/08/2023)
Nice day to be out on the trails, a little bit of snow but everything has been well traveled and no issues.
Phantom Canyon (01/01/2023)
Enjoyed this drive and a bit of railroad and mining history to boot. Kind of fun to see all of the old towns that were along the road at one point of time. We did hit snow for the last third but it was well packed and didn't cause any traction issues. We ran from South to North. It was late in the day so pushed it a little harder but easily completed in a high clearance 4x4 in less than an hour, not the goal but was doable and still comfortable. It did start to snow more heavily as we were leaving so trail conditions may have changed.
Gold Camp Road (01/01/2023)
Used as a connector from Cripple Creek to CO Springs. Probably should not have done at the end of the day with snow coming but hey, made for more fun. Road was covered in snow but well packed and no real traction issues. Also, the grade is relatively flat which helps. We had white out at some points though which made it much more difficult. It was coming down good so trail conditions might be more challenging in the coming day. Under normal conditions, easy connector and wasn't as bumpy as it has been in previous runs.
Old Stage Road (01/01/2023)
Technically open but the weather and road conditions made for a very challenging drive. Driving into CO springs, we hit a few areas that were icy and super slick, thankfully very few cars on the road because we slid off thee road and thankfully into the wall and not off the edge. Ended up making it off the mountain but very challenging right now and likely worse in the coming day as it was raining but freezing so the likelihood of more ice is high but depending on equipment, you may be fine.
Shelf Road (01/01/2023)
First trail run of '23 and a nice little historic mine trail to start off with. Definitely nothing challenging and a great Sunday drive, easily done by a 2WD car. Weren't sure if the trail would be impacted with snow but no issues at all, most of it is completely dry with a few areas in the shade that still have some well packed snow but nothing that caused any traction issues. Note, it was starting to snow last night as we left some other trails in the area so conditions could be slightly different after that weather event.
The Bank (01/01/2023)
First time running this trail and it was an add on for us as we weren't setting out to do it. There is one spot that has a great view but the rest of the trail is a bit lack luster if this was a destination trail. Thankfully it provided a couple of hours of extra fun while in the area. Definitely need some extra clearance to make it through, would not recommend a low clearance vehicle. There was some snow on the trail on the northern parts but nothing to cause an issues with traction. Jut rolled right through and no slipping or sliding.
Seep Springs OHV Area- BLM Road 5830 (01/01/2023)
Nice little dirt road to connect up shelf road and phantom canyon while staying off pavement as much as possible. Just a decent dirt road with no issues.
Fremont County Road 69- Seep Springs OHV Connector (01/01/2023)
Easy connector, nothing to note other than some washboard. Easy to manage with most cars if the weather is clear.
Gordon Gulch (12/17/2022)
Trail is open and still passable. Definitely areas that are icy and could get a bit more slippery but nothing to troubling right now. Thankfully the areas that are a bit more challenging are dry and easily passable so nothing of concern there. Another fun day on the trail
Sugarloaf Mountain (12/17/2022)
Still very passible but areas of snow and ice. Didn't have any real traction issues and able to pass in 2WD still. Areas not covered by treas or on the north faces are completely dry and clear.
Switzerland Trail (12/17/2022)
Trail is open and very passable. North facing and heavily shadowed areas of the trail have snow but it has been well tracked and easy to pass with 2 wheel drive currently. Like others have said, the relative flatness of the trail makes it pretty safe on the snow side for folks that might be newer to snow wheeling. Great day on the trail overall.
Flake Road aka Illinois Gulch (12/10/2022)
Trail is open and no real snow issues. The mud pits really have gotten dug out in some areas and mini Moab is dug out a bit more. Overall, good running trial still.
Rampart Range Road (12/10/2022)
Road is very passable between Mount Herman and the seasonal gate to the north. Very small patches of packed snow with a bit more the further north you go but able to maintain the posted speed limit through out.
Fern Creek (12/10/2022)
Trail is still passable and with little issue. Ran from Rampart down and some areas were fully covered with snow but nothing that caused any issue or even pauses. Might be more challenging if going uphill but never had a loss of traction or any sliding going down hill.
Mount Herman Road (12/10/2022)
No issues on the road, small areas of snow but nothing that causes any challenges. Able to get from the bottom to rampart quickly.
