We ran this trail on accident trying to take Dakan Rd from Larkspur to Rampart Range Rd. Maybe it was because we ran it downhill from Dakan to Rampart, but nothing seemed difficult on this trail at all. It gets just a bit narrow and a little steep above the former Lower Jackson Creek intersection, but nothing overly notable. My rig is a Power Wagon on 35's for reference. At any rate, the views are incredible and the wildlife is everywhere. Be ready for a lot of bugs.

RAMPART IS OPEN!!! This is one of my favorite trails in the area. Its not long, no real challenging obstacles and there are some REALLY nice hidden camp spots back there!

The seasonal mud closure is now in effect. This closure is in effect until June 15th, or until conditions are dry enough for the Forest Service to open the gates for the year.

Trail is closed as of December 1st through April. There was a bright yellow sign posted and the gates were closed and locked. Bummer, will try again in the summer!

Great trail to play around a little on. Fun little dirt bike loop that is large enough for a midsize pickup to run round. Ran this in a lifted Tacoma on 35s and a stock 2020 RAV4. No issues for the Tacoma, rav was close on clearance a few times, but got through it like a champ.

Upper Jackson Creek is in great shape. A few sections in the middle are still pretty washed out but in general, it's very nice for a high use trail. There were a lot of campers and groups of people all enjoying the outdoors. There was a lot of casual ATV and Dirt Bike use- some of the riders are definitely moving quickly so keep your eyes peeled especially in the blind corners.

So , went down this one today confusing it with rim rd down to lower Jackson creek...I was wrong.. also didn’t realize I was getting on to Dakan road, big mistake. Make it partial way into some more technical areas and had to back down to almost the turn off...pucker time indeed !! Still a fun run and definitely found the limits to my compass trailhawk.

This trail was very nice with lots of spots to camp. Most of the time I didn't even need 4 wheel drive to meander my way along by Jackson creek. I'm sure during the summer it is extremely busy. The only reason I did not rate this trail higher was the road to get to this trail (Rampart Range Road) was so full of washboard you felt beat up before you even made it to this trail.

Open for the season. Lots of people camping, and lots of traffic. Road in good shape. It's definitely not recommended for low clearance vehicles to approach this trail from the FS563/Dakan Road side. With Dakan Road being so groomed, I'm sure people won't pay attention and it will get interesting. Safe riding!

Please be advised that this trail may be closed at the Rampart Range (FS 300) end of the trail. There was a Police incident there on 07/02 and the area has been closed off for 48 hours while investigators work through the scene. The Forest Service does not have a good beat on the trails involved, just that this area is on lockdown and be aware that the trails in the area may be inaccessible from Rampart.

Didn't mean to do this today, but missed the turn to continue on Dakan Road (keep to the left!). I wasn't ready for the downhill so it was alittle out of my comfort zone. But we made it to the bottom campsite in the valley. I didn't download the GPS file for this trail so it looked like it dead ended. I didn't want to risk it so we turned around and headed back up the way we came. That too was also alittle out of my comfort zone haha. But we made it out and it was a good test. Made the rest of Dakan Road seem easy! Add a photo of a celebrity sighting! Hey JD!!
