If you looking for a great short trail to test you 4X4 out on this is the trail for you. i completed this trail solo and if you run this trail in reverse you can jump right into little john bull.

Awesome trail! Not very difficult at all but is a lot of fun. Plenty of opportunities to flex over on some pretty decent sized rocks. The Squeeze is legit... nice and tight! Couple of ledges to come down or up on ( Depending on direction of travel ) that if you're running stock you may rub a little but nothing major. So many places to camp along the route so definitely a place to visit if you're looking to spend some quiet time away from people. Definitely a must do if you're in the area.

This, so far, is the best trail I have been on... if only it was 5 miles long! As a reviewer earlier said, the "main squeeze" is just that, but I noticed several other squeezes to be navigated as well... just not as challenging. The scenery was absolutely amazing, being amongst the Coyote Crag and its forest. Breathtaking beauty. The big drop off caught my hitch, but no harm no foul. I cant wait to go back to this trail again... loved it!

The Squeeze, has two very unique challenges -the squeeze between boulders and the small steep dropoff. As yesterday 1/17/22 both were VERY Difficult. We ran it from Union Flat access to Holcomb Valley (East /West) Firstly you must navigate thru an 36 inch deep water hole on Union Flats. We have a raised (2.5 inc h/37 inch tires) , Rubicon 4 dr. We had to keep faster than desired momentum thru while making sure we did not drown the engine. (No snorkel) We managed but inexperienced drivers may have a difficult time and if you had to winch out it would have been underwater. The mud and ice made precision adjustments quite difficult in order to get thru the boulders. Me managed only with an experienced spotter and a rock under tire so jeep didn't slide into the boulder. In regards to the drop off it has worn to about 3 foot drop etc. (step on 2.5 feet step two) (again ice 1030 am) . We spent 45 minutes building rock and log bridge in order to make it down. My rubicon had an easier time BUT again experienced driver and spotter. The stock rubicon would not have made it without the build. MOST IMPORTANTLY, had a ball and learned a ton.

The Squeeze is a nice moderate trail in Big Bear. The "squeeze" that the trail is known for can be a little sketchy for us longer and wide vehicles. It seems going from South to North or East to West might make it slightly easier. It was super tight for my JT with a 4.5 lift and 39s to get through. My group told me my bed was inches from hitting the boulder. Another JT with a 2 inch lift and 37s got through alot easier. Don't let the picture fool you. It was tight.

This trail is awesome! I've met quite a few people on the trails around Big Bear who haven't been on this. If you haven't you're missing out, this is a MUST DO. But be warned anything even the ever so slightest wider than a Jeep simply won't make it due to the width constraints of the rocks. Checkout this video from my most recent trip!

absolutely agree that this trail belongs on everyone's short list when it snows - so much fun and really just a beautiful day out. always surprised how sparse it can be - we only saw a couple of other groups, even on a saturday, at least until you get near either end of 3N16. visiting the various mines in the area and taking a few quiet moments to walk around really gives a sense of what it must have been like when gold lured people away from cramped city life and into a stunning (if unforgiving) setting to carve out a life among the pines and weathered stones.

Fun and challenging route. I went East to West in a stock 2016 Tacoma TRD Offroad with OEM oval tube steps. Myself and my spotter are both inexperienced (but not non-experienced) and while a challenge, by taking our time we cleared the Squeeze with only minor banging on the skid plate and steps (plus scraping my mudflaps and picking up minor brush scratching). My crawl-control came in handy in a couple spots but I probably didn't need it. We passed two parties of Jeeps going West to East and it seems as if would be slightly easier going that direction. There's one spot near the West end where I had to go over a drop that would probably have been much simpler to climb. For my experience level I 100% needed a spotter to avoid "adding character" to my truck body.

They were not joking when the trail was named “The squeeze”. It is very narrow and you will need a spotter so you don’t lose a mirror. The articulation spot was a lot deeper than expected. The video review does not show just how deep this drop off is. A stock Frontier in the group had some scraps and bumps. I did enjoy the technical spots that you had to really think about how you wanted to attack it. For sure, NO full size vehicles on this trail. Great scenery and this trail ends at some great camping.

I made it through The Squeeze! Although, honestly, the write up on here downplays this trail in my opinion. I am one to do my homework before hitting a trail, and this one was definitely more than I expected. “The spot that gets talked about most is a very narrow section that is between two very large rocks” - yes, but what they left out is that this happens at multiple spots along this trail. What a great trail though! It’s very technical and requires good teamwork between a driver and a spotter. 4wd and high clearance are a must.

The squeeze isn't much of a squeeze when you're in a stock YJ but I've run the trail before in my lifted 3rd gen 4Runner and I was happy to have a spotter. The off-camber waterfall gets you just tipsy enough to keep it interesting, but in the end it's not too tough. Great trail if you are in the area but don't feel like, or can't, tackle John Bull.

We were not sure if my K5 could make it. It looked wide enough, but with a little spotting, rubbing on the driver mirror (pulled in) and rubbing the back bumper after dropping off the rock on passenger side (west side of trail) all was good. I could have missed it if I had turned to passenger... next time. Great trail and a beautiful day.

What a blast! I really wanted to try this trail out in the past, but was afraid of sustaining some body damage. Well, the Squeeze is actually not too bad. I made it with inches to spare in my 4Runner and one of my friends made it in a full-size K5 Blazer. He ended nicking his rear bumper and a tad bit of his body, near the right rear tail light. We think he could have made it without touching. Next time!
