Table Mesa Road - West

The trailhead for Table Mesa Road West is on the northwest corner of Exit 236. Finding the trailhead can be confusing since the dirt road on the other side of the exit is Table Mesa Road East. Look for the sign pointing to Frontage Road and follow it.

A staging area sits on the left side of the road. There is room for 6 to 8 rigs. Camping is also possible here. However, this is Arizona State Trust Land, and a permit is required to camp. A large RV or several smaller rigs could camp here. A large amount of traffic noise makes this a poor choice.

A commercial quarry on the left produces construction material. To the north is a compressor plant for the natural gas line that runs through the area.

A campsite sits on the right side of the road. The site is large enough for an RV or several rigs. The site has a fire ring. The ground is smooth enough for tent camping. However, this is Arizona State Trust Land, and a permit is required to camp.

AZCO Mine Road, TMRA 9999, goes off to the right and connects with a large number of other trails. Veer left.

A large campsite sits on the right side of the road. The site could accommodate 2 or 3 RVs or numerous smaller rigs. The site has level ground and several rock fire rings. Tent camping is possible. However, this is Arizona State Trust Land, and a permit is required to camp.

A large staging area sits on the right side of the road serving as a trailhead for several OHV trails limited to 60 inches or less in width. Camping is permitted at the staging area. The site could accommodate 2 or 3 RVs or numerous smaller rigs. Tent camping is possible.

TMRA 9994 goes off left. There is a casual shooting range with lots of trash at the intersection. TMRA 9994 is part of the Purple Loop, which has one short section that is restricted to OHV vehicles 60 inches or less in width. Continue straight.

Little Grand Canyon goes off right to the Agua Fria River. The first few hundred yards of the trail has flat, clean campsites suitable for all types of camping. Stay left.

TMRA 9953 goes off left and soon becomes very technical. It intersect the Purple Loop. Continue straight.

BLM 9952 goes off left and eventually intersects the Purple Loop. Continue Straight

The road crosses a small wash. This is the only obstacle along the trail. Never enter flooded desert washes.

The road exits BLM land and reenters Arizona State Trust Land. A corral used by Boulder Creek Ranch evokes the history of large cattle ranches in earlier Arizona. Please stay on the roadway.

The trail ends at the entrance to the Lake Pleasant Regional Park. The park requires a fee payable as the self-service kiosk. Lake Pleasant is fed by the Agua Fria River as well as the Central Arizona Project aqueduct which brings Colorado River water to Phoenix. The lake also hosts numerous pairs of nesting bald eagles.

A large parking area provides a convenient turnaround point. Exit the way you came.
