Due to high fire danger, the Tillamook State Forest is closing all OHV trails as of 1am on Friday June 25th. Ran this on Saturday May 1st. The trail was mostly dry and accessible. The iconic Cedar Tree now stands alone. There were some interesting sights along the trail such as the boulder placed on a stump. We also found there is now a challenging shelf road section of Cedar Tree (confirmed by the signs) that terminates across the gravel road from Crushers. The view along this clear cut shelf portion is amazing. However, it can be steep and there are very few places for vehicles coming in the opposite direction to pass.

Per Douglas’ post, the “payoff” part of Cedar Tree has been clear cut. Ran it today (4-18-21) and was saddened to see the dramatic change. I realize it’s logging land - just tough to lose one of the prettiest parts of the trail.

Well... Cedar Tree is back open but it looks more like a moonscape than the trail we all remember. Be prepared for everything to be clear-cut. There's a good chance there'll be temporary closures through the summer while the ODF works on the trail now that the logging is done. Cedar Tree trail is open between waypoints 1-3. The remainder of the trail is signed "temporarily closed". This is due to logging activity. ODF is working to get it reopened by June.

It was an absolutely perfect freakin day today, saw it was closed but thanks to the comment underneath I did what they did and had a blast!! They say dont go solo but I have no friends or family nearby that offroad and im not, not going to go offroading(been offroading since i was 8 with my dad, did all of the utah trails :)) anyway, I loved it, some muddy parts, technical parts, light trail rides, some super duper narrow spots but I completed it in my 4D/ 2011 jku sahara/ no lift/ 33 inch MT at 25 PSI for me, didnt use my winch either, went into 4wheel high and 2nd for some parts but mostly 2wd for me and my dog :). Glad to get my first JEEP Badge of Honor badge a day before my birthday. Been wanting to do this for awhile now. GREAT GREAT TRAIL! :)

Went on a couple day overloading trip that fell short due to trail closure on Cedar Tree due to an "Active Logging Site." Unfortunately, we did not find out until we made it to the bottom of our decent. Downed trees and Forestry Mandates forced us to turn around and climb back up before getting to drive under the fallen cedar. I’ve run this trail several times and I always enjoy it. It’s a great trail that can easily be run in a stock vehicle, but yet is still fun in one that’s lifted. It has a good variety of terrain and interesting scenery. Always a good one to run when visiting TSF. If you do run it in a stock vehicle that’s low on articulation and has open diffs, it’s a good idea to have a winch or another vehicle with you that does. As you climb out of the fern/moss valley near the end of the trail before they extended it (really pretty area of the trail BTW) there is a good size hole on the switch back near the top of the hill that can be tricky to get past. Note: Any stock Wrangler can get past this spot with ease, even with open diffs. It’s the low articulation plus open diff combo that may have trouble.

Trail was dry and not TOO busy, though we did have to pull aside in a few places to let some faster side-by-sides / ATVs and a more experienced Jeep get past. Couldn't quite get the JLUR all the way under the tree, but close enough. Finished the trail with no damage on a stock JLUR and a 2in lifted JK Sport. Great time! I imagine it is a very different experience when wet. NOTE: You are required to carry a shovel and fire extinguisher. The shovel must have at least a 8in round-tip blade and >= 26in handle, and the extinguisher needs to be ABC and at least 2.5lbs. The permit can be acquired online and a temporary one stored on your phone until the sticker arrives.

What an awesome trail! Took a little detour while on our honeymoon before the 4th and hit up this trail.. Got to say that it was fun to explore the area afterwards and drive around in the Tillamook State Forest. Trail was wet and slick, although we were able to complete most of the trail in 2WD. I only had to drop @jeepleonidas in 4 low for 2 obstacles on the trail. Be prepared for ruts, rocks, tree roots and and combination of the three. There were few people in the area all on quads or dirt bikes be careful when coming to the trail and main road intersections. The hardest part of doing this trail was getting the state required permits. We were able to acquire the permit at the South Prairie Store just south of Tillamook on 101.

This GPX is missing the 2 extra legs that were added. Not sure when they added them but there is a nice uphill rock section that seems to be claiming some rigs. From the end of this GPX, cross Saddle Mountain Rd and continue on Cedar Tree Trail #13 - again you will come to a crossing, just follow the signs for Cedar Tree Trail #13. (this will be the last leg.) Fun trail. Always changing it seems, where giant drops offs have appeared months later they have been filled in and its a highway again. Fun trail. The extra 2 legs really help round this trail out.

Great trail and I love this website, but these instructions we’re absolute dog shit. We spent hours looking for the trailhead because of the horrible directions starting at “going 500 feet past the quarry”. Someone’s gotta update these instructions because a lot of these directions could be skipped entirely. Other than that, beautiful trail.

I drive a 2020 Tacoma Off-Road Long Bed with Predator steps. I'd say this is the max width for a few narrow spots. With the longer wheelbase, we were fine for the most part, definitely needed spotters for ~10-15 questionable spots, and had to build some small ramps with available rocks to keep the steps from getting too jacked up. We fit under the cedar tree with basically no clearance. Relatively easy trail, just need to take time through some narrow areas in larger rigs. The waypoint directions here are on point, especially needed to find your way back out to Brown's Camp area to get back on the main road.

Jeep Badge of Honor Trail! Made the trip from Southern California to wheel the two Jeep BOH trails in the Tillamook State Forest (this and Firebreak 5). Weather was sunny and trail was dry. The trail was fairly easy. Not technically challenging but the trail is narrow and has sharp turns at some spots. Beware of huge tree roots that do stick out of the ground. They can jolt your rig pretty good if you take too sharp of a turn or not paying attention. Being from Southern California, this trail was one of the densest forest trails I've ever encountered (which made it exciting for me at least). The highlight of the trail, of course, was the giant fallen cedar tree (which I was unable to drive under w/ my rig setup). The pics I took (along with the JBOH badge) throughout the trail were worth the visit.

I have left a few reviews for Browns camp area after visiting this past week and I feel like I keep saying the same thing, it was a little bit of a let down. The only exciting thing on this trail was one of our rigs snagged a tire on a sharp root sticking out. It caused a small tear and leak in the sidewall. Overall this trail was very easy in two full size rigs (Tahoe and F250LD) as well as two 4runners and a Tacoma (not sure where they falls on the size spectrum (mid size maybe?). It was pretty much a two wheel drive trail. All the "difficult" spots are shown in photos above. We had a good time, but were looking for something with some challenge to it.

It's a narrow trail but didn't have any issues with a stock Jeep Rubicon. It was sunny dry conditions. I honestly expected it to be harder for it's rating on the Badge of Honor app but not bad! It was fun.

Very dry but great riding. In my stock XJ the "Obstacle" (Waypoint #9) was a bit of a challenge. Got stuck for a second, until we rocked her back about two feet or so and got traction. We went on the right side of the roots as the clearance on the left worried me for the stock height. An hour journey length was about the right estimate. Fun but definitely challenging.

Great adventure in the snow. Grip was low on the snow packed areas but in the muddy sections you could get a good drive up or around corners to regain that forward momentum. Advise having rock sliders in the snow due to hidden objects and sliding into stumps/rocks.

It was a fun, wet, and muddy time on Cedar Tree last Friday. Someone cut out a tree that fell down into the road near Waypoint 4. With all of the wind we'll be getting this winter, it's not a bad idea to carry a saw and be ready to cut your way through trails, especially if you're running a trail during the week.

This is a fun, muddy trail through the woods. My truck can pose for pictures under the cedar tree but it's too tall to drive all the way through underneath. Good thing there's a bypass.
