Calvary 4-Wheelers ran a large portion of the middle of the trail as part of a meandering route through the Yankee Hill network on Saturday, November 12. We started near the top at the intersection with Sheridan Hill and traveled down to Washoe Gulch, taking a little lunch break at the Lombard Mine. The trail was mostly clear with occasional patches of ice and packed snow.

Difficulty Accuracy: Spot On

First part of the trail is the hardest but if you can get past that it’s easy, just some larger rocks and ruts, nothing too crazy. Rocky all the way but a fun short trail and a good way to enter the Yankee Hill network.

Difficulty Accuracy: Harder

We didn't think this trail is suitable for a beginner. It's rocky from the start. Some big rocks about a hundred feet in took some spotting and careful tire placement for a stock Subaru Forester Wilderness with full skid plates. The lower portion of the trail is mostly wooded, not very scenic. A portion of the trail has large ruts, which took some careful spotting. At the top there are great views include Mary's Glacier.

Ran today in a stock 4Runner ORP. The direction indicated is uphill and would be strongly preferred as it is too narrow for passing along the first stretch. We did encounter some other vehicles in the switchbacks and there is room there. Just challenging enough and very scenic. Tons of wildflowers! As we reached the top there was a large campsite and somebody was seeing up an adventure trailer. I would use caution if turning towards Central City at the top as I no longer believe these trails can be easily traveled in a stock 4x4 as indicated in the description.

Good trail to have fun in a stock SUV. Nice view of fall colors on the aspens below. The climb is fun bur rocky, I recommend airing down.

Camped out Friday 9/17 and finished the trail 9/18 and visited some connecting trails. Much like the other trails in the area it is ROCKY. Airing down makes for a much smoother ride. Not very busy, saw no other campers while riding the trail and only passed 2 other vehicles.

As COVID-19 restrictions slowly start easing, Calvary 4-Wheelers finally got a trip in on June 6, 2020. We headed to the Yankee Hill area and started the trip by going up Cumberland Gulch. Along for the trip were me in my green Cherokee (finally back on the trail after having major steering issues and sitting most of the winter), Kiyanna in her stock silver Wrangler, Richard and Kirsten in their stock Ford Ranger and Jon in his red Cherokee. The weather was overcast and somewhat cooler than expected but pleasant enough. We would get rain later in the day but we were on to other trails by then. The trail was clear and mostly dry with a few little wet patches here and there from spring runoff. We did not take it all the way to the top but turned off onto Sheridan Hill at Waypoint 5.

This trail was awesome. It was open all the way to the top and I had a blast. The views were amazing and the trail had spots to make it more difficult. My friends stock jeep made it up with only a little trouble. Highly recommend.

Ran this yesterday following Chinns and Loch Lomond. Ran it as a connector to Yankee Hill. Mostly easy, other than first obstacle of rocks uphill (fairly easy). Airing down will help. Beautiful drive through the Aspens.

Nice trail. Nothing too crazy. Some loose rocks. I like this way to the connections to Yankee Hill. The only section that is slightly tough is the very first obstacle.

From Fall River Rd, got up the first incline and around the 1st switchback but then when ran into too much snow and buried limbs across the trail. Will be back in a month or so. I was with my buddy in his lifted 4dr wrangler. Left my stock XJ cherokee with street tires on Fall River Rd.

Ran the trail from Yankee Hill down to Fall River Road. The snow is not very deep and we had no problems coming down at all. LJ on 37s, LJ on 33s. Could prove difficult for stock vehicles.
