Tim lives and works in Northern Colorado. He has owned and driven 4X4 vehicles his entire adult life including Jeeps, pick ups, ATVs and UTVs. After high school, Tim's first 4X4 was a 47 Willy's CJ-2A with a flat 4 and a 6-volt electrical system. Typically wheeling in Northern Colorado or Southern Wyoming, Tim loves being in the mountains and the back country. Because of a desire to enjoy and promote responsible off-roading and to keep it available for the future, he belongs to a local 4X4 off-road club. Being part of the Trailsoffroad.com community furthers that goal as well. A love for off-road adventures, camping, fishing, and hunting keeps Tim away from pavement and always exploring. While his wife likes the comfort of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Tim prefers the ruggedness of the Jeep Wrangler. Although most off-road time is spent in Colorado and Wyoming, an occasional trip to the Moab area is common. Tim will spend the summer going topless and enjoying the value of the great outdoors. Talladega National Forest 600-1 (01/29/2023)
This was my favorite trail we did this weekend while visiting the Talladega National Forest. We stayed in the Cheaha State Park and had great access to the trails in this area. We took trail 600-1 from north to south and found no problems going in this direction. We found numerous great camping opportunities along this trail, some with a great view of the valley below. The mountains in this range are among the highest in Alabama and offer some nice views. The trail was in great shape. It is rocky in spots with some areas of ruts caused by erosion. There were also multiple water puddles along the trail that appear to hold water most of the year. This trail is a solid 3 that can be easily completed with a stock vehicle. The white Jeep in the photos is a stock Rubicon that was able to complete the trail without difficulty. I highly recommend this trail if you're in the Talladega vicinity.
Talladega National Forest-651 (01/28/2023)
The culvert under the road 1/4 mile past waypoint 2 is washed out. There is an 8 foot deep trench craved across the road. Use caution there are no warning signs advising of the hazard. Although it appears as is several vehicles went off road to bypass the damage, we turned around at this point and took another road.
Talladega National Forest 600-2 (01/28/2023)
There is a private property land dispute leading up to the trailhead; However, the trail is open as an out and back from the top side. Take Highway 281 from Cheaha State Park a few mile south. Where the pavement ends is the open end of the trail. The trail was in great shape and is showing some wear and tear from heavy rain and erosion. All of the water holes are passable with a hard bottom. The rutted area takes a little bit of proper tire placement to avoid falling into the deep erosion ruts. This trail rating is a solid 3. The white colored Rubicon in our group is stock and had no issues with a little spotting.
Vedauwoo Road (12/16/2022)
The snow and the Wyoming winds have taken their toll on this road for the season. Drifting snow makes it impassable for now.
