Centered in the pinnacle of the Pacific NW and growing up cruising around the small town of Quilcene, Jasmine grew with a fascination and passion for outdoors and travel, many of those adventures fueled by the family's 1998 Jeep Cherokee. Years later, photography grew as a way to capture and share the adventures being had. After a road trip from Seattle to San Diego in a 1996 Jetta, a 4WD truck would be the next step in going further in photographing the wild places of the West. In December of 2016, a manual 1989 Toyota Pickup was purchased and those dreams would continue to flourish. Jon grew up in a small Wisconsin town. In 2004, his parents decided to purchase a new Jeep LJ. They picked the LJ because of the additional room, as it would be used for a road trip to Florida. After joining the navy, the family Jeep followed Jon down to Georgia and became his own. It took him to Virginia, and then Washington. It wasn't until Washington that things started to happen for Jon and his Jeep. Jasmine, now his wife, got him more interested in hiking, and ultimately overlanding. Over time, Jon and Jasmine realized that they wanted to use the Jeep to tackle harder trails, and spend weekends in ORV parks. It was through this decision that the mostly stock Jeep received a refreshing upgrade after 15 years of driving. Jon usually drives the Jeep when the trail is in question, and to allow Jasmine to document the trails. Currently, Jon has been in 26 states with the Jeep, via family trips and his time in the navy. Jon hopes to travel to every state with his Jeep, including Alaska and Hawaii.

1989 Toyota Hilux

Lift Size: 2"
Tire Size: 30"
Outfitted with an elusive Wildernest Canopy, this 4WD 1989 Toyota Pickup SR5, better known as The Toyota Hilux Extrodinaire (THEO) has forever changed Jasmine's expeditions. Theo has 256,000 miles, Old Man Emu suspension, 30.0x9.0R15 BF Goodrich All Terrain Tires, Raptor Lined exterior and bed, upgraded LED Headlights, a fresh V6 3.0L (that has been super reliable, regardless what the haters say.) and the latest addition, a Dometic 75 freezer. This daily driven manual hilux has taken Jasmine and her family to Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Utah, Arizona as well as B.C. and Alberta.

2005 Jeep Wrangler LJ

Lift Size: 4"
Tire Size: 35"
Named "VEJEEPA" as a play on the name Jeep and the DBZ character Vegeta; Jon likes his DBZ. The LJ is one of the rarest Jeeps, having been manufactured from only '04-'06. This LJ has a 4" Currie lift, and 35" BFG KM3s. The low pinion Dana 30 front has been swapped for a high pinion, and it has its original Dana 44 rear, both with ARB lockers. For armor, it has Rock Hard 4X4 bumpers front and rear, UCF Ultra High skid plate, and Rockslide Engineering drop down sliders. It also has a 32 gallon Genright gas tank, and recently a new 4.0 engine.

1989 Toyota 4Runner

Lift Size: 3.5"
Tire Size: 33"
We had an '88 4Runner that we had planned on building into something similar, but after the 2.4 engine died, we found this one for sale in southern California. It's an '89 4Runner with a 3.0; a SLIGHT upgrade. It has Total Chaos suspension and Fox coilovers up front, and long travel rear leaf springs. The tires are 33X10.5R15 BFG KO2s. It's fully caged in the cab and engine bay, and has a Fiberwerx one piece hood/fenders.

My Trail Reviews (6)

(within last 6 months)
Shafer Trail (01/16/2023)
Closed due to ice and snow.
Lovell Canyon Road 45537 (12/24/2022)
We drove up to Waypoint 6 to begin Rocky Gap, and the road was completely paved until that point. The drive was scenic.
Rocky Gap/Potato Ridge Road (12/24/2022)
We didn't expect a lot from Rocky Gap, we were simply aiming to complete it while on a road trip. Thankfully, we were mistaken. The beginning wasn't too rough, though several washouts in the first few miles were made even more sketchy by the small amount of snow present. One washout was snowy enough that we drifted through until regaining traction. The rock garden in the middle was a bit more than was expected based on the pics and video. With our shorter wheelbase (103 inches) we were able to avoid most of the rocks. The one optional line we took in to rock garden took a few tries, but our lockers weren't needed. After the rock garden, we continued to climb, and were rewarded with plenty of beautiful views. We completed the trail in approximately 2 hours. Overall, the trail was just challenging enough to be interesting, and had enough views to make the challenges worth it. This trail is definitely worth the journey, and one we'd be happy to do again.
