Fremont County Road 27

Did this trail Saturday. Took the H3. Low traffic, only saw a handful of ATVs near the vault toilet area and 2 trucks going down. Once we got to the campsite at waypoint 6, it appeared to me that the trail kept going to the north, and it looks like it continues on the map, so we followed it a little ways up to the next switchback indicated on the map. At that point, it looks like the trail continues north, and there is a gate to the southwest. I thought about continuing north, but there was a rock in the middle of the road I didn't feel like moving and my wife was ready to head out. I thought about choosing "easier", but there were a few places I don't think I would attempt in our stock Renegade, so spot on sounds right. I will definitely be back to hit some of the other trails in the area.

Low traffic and big panoramic views! I drove this road on Sunday, April 24th with a group from Colorado Land Cruisers (Colorado Springs).

Excellent touring road when the ATV season slows down; my visit on Sunday encountered few. I saw one ATV parked near the summit, and a group of five ATVs near Bull Gulch. On the return, I saw one Jeep parked at the summit. The road is in good condition.

I visited Texas Creek OHV Area on 20-21 April with a small group from Colorado Land Cruisers (Colorado Springs). We found the roads in good condition and very little trash/litter in the area. We encountered a few motorcycles and ATV/UTVs, but traffic seemed very light for a spring weekend. CR 27 is a fun road to explore, the scenery seems to get better the deeper you go into the mountains. The area around Bull Gulch is very inviting for camping, hiking, and even some rock climbing/bouldering.
