My Trail Reviews (14)

(within last 6 months)
Phantom Canyon (03/18/2023)
This is the second year I ran this trial. It is a great winter trail for snow wheeling. This year there was a lot more snow on the trail which made it even better to play on especially on the second half of the trail past the big bridge.
Gold Camp Road (03/18/2023)
Ran this trail starting from Cripple Creek after running Phantom Canyon. This is another great snow wheeling trail. Just like Phantom Canyon there was a lot more snow then previous years. the last down hill grade into Colorado Springs was a very icy so caution was important several as it was easy to lose control.
Lost Park Road (02/04/2023)
Ran this trail along with Topaz Mtn, and North Fork Rd today. This was a awesome place to test my Gladiator in the deep snow. most of the trial was about a foot to 15 inches deep today. it was a blast. Great group of trails for snow wheeling.
Topaz Mountain/Wallace Gulch (02/04/2023)
Ran this trail along with Lost Park Rd, and North Fork Rd today. This was a awesome place to test my Gladiator in the deep snow. most of the trial was about a foot to 15 inches deep today. it was a blast. Great group of trails for snow wheeling.
Turkey Track Road (12/10/2022)
Ran this trail on my way home after running some other trails in the area. The area is open to shooters again after being closed due to high fire risk earlier in the year. The rating on this trail should be changed to an easy "2" as the Big Hill has been smoothed out quite a bit and can be run in a 2WD now. There are few sections before the Big Hill that are a bit rutted, but nothing that can't be done in a 2WD vehicle and I saw several cars at the ranges.
Fern Creek (12/10/2022)
Ran this trail in conjunction with a bunch of other trails in the area. I found this trail not too difficult, but lots of fun to drive. It had lots of mild off camber areas, lots of tight turns, ice and snow in a fee areas, but nothing real technical. It did make for a great day out.
Flake Road aka Illinois Gulch (12/10/2022)
Ran this trail in conjunction with a bunch of other trails in the area. I found this trail not too difficult in most areas, but rougher on the section between Long Hollow and Mini-Moab. This was the primary trail planned, but decided to also explore other trails in the area. It to had lots of mild off camber areas, lots of tight turns, ice and snow in a fee areas, and was a but rougher then most of the other trails. I think the Concerns section needs to include more details such as mild to moderate off-camber due to the the Mini-Moab section and other parts of the trail. It did make for a great day out. I will definitely visit this area mor often.
Long Hollow Road (12/10/2022)
Ran part of this trail in conjunction with a bunch of other trails in the area. Drove the section from the parking lot to Fern Creek. This was not a difficult trail, but did encounter some snow on the trail in the shady area.
Coney Creek Road (aka Coney Flats) (10/29/2022)
This trail was still open today. The weather was perfect. Ran this trail in conjunction with Middle St Vrain. There was about 4 to 6 inches of snow on the majority of the trail which make it a bit more difficult especially in the boulder fields, but this also added to the challenge and the thrill. The first water hole was about 2 ft deep and icy, but wasn't hard to get through. The was also about 2 ft deep and the ice was about 4 to 6 inches thick which made it a challenge to push through. Think the trail is spot on in difficulty with the snow making it a bit harder.
Middle St. Vrain (10/29/2022)
This trail was still open today. The weather was perfect. Ran this trail in conjunction with Coney flats. There was about 4 to 6 inches of snow on the majority of the trail which make it a bit more difficult especially in the boulder fields, but this also added to the challenge and the thrill. I think the trail is more of a high moderate (4) then a Difficult (5) except for the snow.
Mount Herman Road (10/01/2022)
Decided to do a day of exploring in my backyard so to speak. Started at bottom of Mount Herman road and worked my way up Rampart Range Road. It was a nice day and the weather was pleasant. It was not a difficult trail, but I do think that it being a shelf road almost the entire length it should be included in the Concern list for those who are not comfortable with them. It is a bit narrow in some spots.
Balanced Rock Road (10/01/2022)
Ran this trail in conjunction with several others in the area for a day of exploring and fun. It was a really nice day and expected to see a lot of other 4 wheeler's out and about, but it was actually pretty quiet. This trail another fun trail, but not too challenging except the bottom section which was narrow and had several very deep ruts. this was the only place I had to put my Gladiator into 4 low coming back up.
Ice Cave Road (10/01/2022)
Did this trail as part of a group of trails in the area. This was a fun trail and I found it a bit easier then the trail rating suggests.
Dakan Road (10/01/2022)
Ran this trail as the last trail of the day before heading home. This trail was not hard, but based of the rating found it to be a bit rougher then expected. It was a fun trail to drive. I would rate this trail as a 2 rating not due to being a bit rougher and bumper. To me Rampart Range would be a 1 rating...a flat or washboard dirt road.
