Trail Information

Highlights

Located minutes from Woodland Park, CO, Schubarth Road is a popular destination for wheelers on the Front Range. New and seasoned drivers will appreciate the undulating roadway and occasional sections of embedded rock to keep things interesting. The large sections of aspen trees with some huge boulders and evergreens make for unique leaf-peeping in the fall. Early in the trail, these trees give way to open fields that offer spectacular, and unobstructed, views of Pikes Peak. You’ll find tons of camping options on Schubarth and the connecting trails but this portion of the Pike National Forest is also packed full of recreation destinations and nearby is the Rampart Reservoir. A good side trail to explore off of Rampart Range Road. There is very little snow left on the trail. As with snow melt, expect mud and puddles, but nothing to worry about. The trail is fairly wide at the beginning and narrow down a bit towards the end. A full size vehicle will fit, but can be tight in a couple of spots. A couple of camp sites along the trail, but nothing special in terms of views.

Once you get into the trees the trail is pretty snow packed. Easily driven with 4WD. The views are great in the beginning and get swallowed up by the trees. The end of the trail is anticlimactic. Overall a pretty easy trail.

Visited to check on the trails in this area and no major changes to report. The fall colors are pretty much done

Easy dirt/gravel road with great views of Pikes Peak from a large meadowy area.
