Bull Canyon

Sweet!

Ran this along with Gemini Bridges trail. The trail to the sandy wash was not too bad, from then on there was no sandy wash. All the sand is gone and it has turned into a rock garden with some tight turns and a very bumpy ride. I am thinking the recent rains have done some damage to this trail. We made it to WP6 and turned around which was disappointing. Past there the trail did not look safe enough to pass for our entire group. Despite all the bouncing around in the rock garden it was still a good out and back trail through the canyon.

Ran the easy portion out to the hike, which is definitely worth doing.

Easy and scenic morning drive, sunrise colors on the rock was fantastic! This is a worthwhile "side road" when driving Gemini Bridges.

Fun trail in our Gladiator Rubicon. Bottomed out slightly on a couple obstacles, but was able to complete everything.

Fun trail off of Gemini bridges. Few obstacles to keep it entertaining. Not much traffic, maybe saw 3 others on the trail. Hike under Gemini was great as well!

Drove a portion of Bull Canyon to access Surprise Overlook. The road is in good condition.

Really fun trail with some rocky areas, sandy areas, and easy cruising. Definitely worth it to hike around Gemini Bridges trailhead.

Always a really fun short trail close to Moab when you do not have much time. We found that the lower fork does not give you much passing space on the return if a group of several rigs come up the trail, so be mindful of oncoming traffic or you will find yourself backing up a long distance. Added new waypoint (waypoint 3) for hidden drop off along the road that sneaks up on you and also the end waypoint of the lower fork.

This is always a beautiful trail to do around this time of year with all of the lush green vegetation around. During Easter Jeep Safari, this trail is lightly used and you will probably not pass very many people. We passed one larger group and 2 individuals. It was a very dry day so the dust was heavy but just about as perfect of a day on the trail as you can get.

I try to not run popular trails to avoid the crowds, but this was a cold and snow covered day and the Bull Canyon trail turned into one of those "magical moments" with its sheer beauty of a winter desert landscape. I had rarely been to the Moab area in the winter and I truly got to experience what people mean when they say "the desert can get cold". With the recent snowfall, the red and brown desert structures appeared to be frosted just like frosted mini wheats and the snow really accented every spire and rounded monolith. The sun was still low on the horizon and raising which light the canyon walls a deep orange-red. I will most likely do this trail even if its hot and crowded because it was a truly pretty trail.
