South Mineral Campground</a>. This improved campground has 26 nicely spaced sites and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. For the next 3-miles, the road turns into a beautiful two-track leading to limited but prime dispersed camping. The two-track portion can be driven by any high clearance vehicle but note that there are two water crossings at the very end that may be fairly deep early in the season.">South Mineral Campground</a>. South Mineral starts from US Highway 550 outside Silverton, Colorado. The trail begins as a wide graded gravel road with three designated camp areas: Anvil, Bear, and Sultan. Each area has a vault toilet, and the sites are dispersed. Continuing past the Sultan area, the views open up as you drive alongside South Fork Mineral Creek before reaching South Mineral Campground.
