South Mineral starts from US Highway 550 outside Silverton, Colorado. The trail begins as a wide graded gravel road with three designated camp areas: Anvil, Bear, and Sultan. Each area has a vault toilet, and the sites are dispersed. Continuing past the Sultan area, the views open up as you drive alongside South Fork Mineral Creek before reaching South Mineral Campground. This improved campground has 26 nicely spaced sites and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
