Considered part of the Jeep Badge of Honor Redbird Trail #5, 5 Blue is a ramp-up after driving 5 Green. The action is limited, but the rugged drive through the forest will sure put a smile on your and your passengers' faces as you weave in and out of trees, wrap-around ponds, and look over a ravine with an open forest floor. If you are the only one out there, keep an eye out for deer and other wildlife.

Trail Difficulty and Assessment

Trail Navigation

Route Finding and Path Getting lost on this route is hard, but it is intermingled with several paths. When in doubt, simply stay on the more defined road to follow it. It follows a half loop where you can take it to its end or jump across a ravine to the Sherwood Forest. Technical The route is almost entirely dirt, with tight winding areas through trees and up and down small hills. When dry, this is a simple and easy-to-drive trail. With dirt, once water hits, it turns to mud, and this trail will be slick. There are shallow-standing mudholes with ruts, and when it is wet out, this trail could prove much more challenging simply due to traction issues. Traction is the difference maker, as there are no notable obstacles. Vehicle and Equipment Recommendations It is suitable for any high-clearance vehicles with 4-low and great for beginners and seasoned alike. All-terrain tires are recommended at a minimum, but mud-terrains would be preferred simply for traction purposes. if a high level of rainfall or snow has taken place, recovery gear would be good to have. Full-size pickup trucks would struggle in some locations. Map Colors While the Park depicts this as a blue trail, blue is not the color used by Trails Offroad.
