Gulches ORV Park: Trail 1

This hard-packed red clay trail is notorious for becoming sticky mud during wet conditions. Starting at The Gulches entrance, Trail 1 is a straight-through that ends at the start of River Road. Trail 1 has one main obstacle at Waypoint 3, with a heavily rutted area from excessive water runoff with multiple lines. This trail specifically is suitable for moderately experienced drivers with a high clearance 4x4, but drivers should pay close attention to posted signage as extremely difficult routes are frequent and just around the corner. The Gulches has more than 50 trails ranging from easy to "absolutely stupid," - according to their park information. The park has a massive staging area where you can park a trailer, work on your rig, and use the restrooms. Restrooms are clearly marked on the trail maps. The Park has the following rating system: Green: Easy Intermediate: Blue Difficult: Single Black More Difficult: Yellow or Double Black (Depending on the map) Most Difficult: Orange or Skull & Crossbones (Depending on the map) Also notable map features: Red Dots (numbered): Primitive Campsites Blue Dots: Deep Water Other Notes (mentioned at check-in) Keep your vehicle in 4-low throughout the park Airing down tires is always recommended Air back up behind the house before you leave Disconnect sway bars NO DRINKING AND DRIVING Stay on marked trails The park closes due after heavy rain events due to the mud.
