South Carrizo Creek - Anza Borrego (02/20/2023)
Took this trail instead of Canyon Sin Nombre as we wanted to make our way to find a camp site. Easy road that you can travel at a good pace. Plenty of light pin-striping.
Dolomite Mine - Anza Borrego (02/20/2023)
A short trail to take up to an old mine. Fairly straightforward with just some rutting and a bit of an incline.
Mortero Wash North - Anza Borrego (02/20/2023)
Very short easy trail giving you some good views.
Carrizo Creek / Canyon / Gorge - Anza Borrego (02/18/2023)
I had exactly the same experience as Taylor shared in his review. We had to try and recover a 2wd sedan that got stuck in the sand. Overall a scenic and quiet trail. We didn’t go all the way to the end as it’s just became very rocky. Not challenging just not enjoyable.
Diablo Drop Off (02/18/2023)
Took the drop-off for the first time in November. This time all the ruts had gotten a fair bit deeper and there was a lot more loose sand. We took the 2nd trail from the left. Took it slowly without any real difficult, just a little bit of sliding on the sand. Overall I would say it looks harder than it is.
Arroyo Seco Del Diablo Trail (02/18/2023)
A very nice trail through the mud canyons. I think the 5 rating only applies to an offshoot?
Mortero Wash - Anza Borrego (02/18/2023)
A fun and easy trail with some good views and a few spots for dispersed camping. Mostly an easy dirt / sand road with just a few ruts and gentle slopes.
Kofa Queen Canyon (01/13/2023)
A very picturesque trail. Very few vehicles when we went on a Friday afternoon. No obstacles on the route, but some pinstriping after you pass skill rock.
Kofa Cabin - Jasper Springs (01/13/2023)
We took this trail out and back starting at the reverse end. Fantastic trail with varied terrain and lots of camping spots. Between waypoint 11 and 12 there was a section that looked like the trail split in two. We accidentally found ourselves going the wrong way and took a lot of pinstriping until we realised we were off trail and backtracked.
Meccaopia Jeep Trail (12/21/2022)
Easy trail that is good fun to drive. Nice scenery. A lot of trash near the end of the trail.
Diablo Drop Off (11/26/2022)
Fun and varied trail with some great views. Descending the drop-off is very easy so long as you have clearance. We did see a lot of Tacoma’s and other trucks try and ascend the drop off. They struggled, some rolling backward precariously and others ripping the trail up by spinning their wheels relentlessly
Canyon Sin Nombre (11/26/2022)
Fun trail to drive. Not too technical but some deep sand.
Fish Creek Trail - Anza Borrego (11/25/2022)
Fun trail with several offshoots and areas to explore on foot too.
Painted Gorge Road (11/24/2022)
Very easy trail. Canyon is worth seeing
Berdoo Canyon (11/06/2022)
Great fun trail with good variance in driving terrain. Some flat and smooth sections for pacy driving mixed in with some slightly more technical elements. As a beginner off-roader we managed section 8 with relative ease but just took our time on picking the lines and took it slow.
2N02 - Burns Canyon (10/29/2022)
Great trail to explore for a beginner. Overall easy, but some sections are rough, steep or require some clearance. Would put the majority of the trail at a level 1 to 2, but a few sections would be more a 3 in my mind.
SC65 - McIvers Cabin (10/15/2022)
This was my first trail, so don’t have any to compare it with. It felt like two separate trails, both in terms of the landscape but also the difficulty. Up to waypoint 11 it was a very easy but fun fire road and shelf road. At around waypoint 12 it became a lot more challenging, with heavy rutting, lots of off-camber and large rocks. Though we managed and it was a great way to learn a lot about the vehicles response to different terrain, I would have chosen a slightly easier trail for our first run. Definitely a blast, but personally would not recommend it to a complete novice.
