2N01 - Broom Flat

Unnecessary temporary closure of pretty much all of San Bernardino National forest. 🙄 Forest Order No. 05-12-00-23-03

Easy trail, had about 2-4 inches of snow beginning of trail.

Great trail that is nice and easy in a stock jeep. Rate it 1-2

Used this road to get us back to Hwy 38 after a great day in this part of the “Big Bear” area. Mostly just dirt road, but some fun areas on the hilly parts.

Took this trail from Hwy 38 to the backdoor of Heartbreak Ridge. Easy, moderately hilly route across a nice meadow.

The San Bernardino National Forest has reopened.

The current forest-wide emergency closure order has been extended, for San Bernardino National Forest, through midnight on Sept. 22.

The Forest Service has temporary closed all of the National Forests in California. This closure will is from Aug. 31, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. through September 17, 2021 at 11:59 p.m.

Did this in my mini AWD with AT tires on a 1inch leveling kit. Fairly easy trail with beautiful scenic views. Some sections are really rocky and with the snow it can get really muddy with a few mud puddles along the way. Juniper Springs Campground is another cool spot to check out while on this trail.

We took Broom Flat on our way to Burns Canyon. It was an easy trail. Near the intersection of Burn Canyon my Garmin GPS showed roads that were not longer open. These roads have been closed for a long time from their state of decay and blocked with large boulders. So the GPS was asking me to take roads no longer available. We kept pushing on and after a wrong turn to a dead end. When we turned around we got to the intersection for Burn Canyon.

There’s a little bit of snow on the trail today, a couple inches.

We took this today from the 38 over to Heart Break Ridge. Nice easy road.

An unplanned off-road adventure turned into a 'snow-to-desert' run from Big Bear to Johnson Valley. We started in Big Bear, on 2N01- Broom Flat where the snow was falling and visibility was poor. As we approached 2N02 - Burns Canyon the clouds cleared and the snow thinned. On to Motino Wash for some rock crawling where the snow faded and from there, we took Rattlesnake Canyon out to Johnson Valley and Jack Hammer. This was a great off-road trip with a variety of trails and a variety of weather in a single southern California winter day.
