My Trail Reviews (27)

(within last 6 months)
Mad Creek (01/27/2023)
Huge drifts, impassable.
Bard Creek (01/27/2023)
Turned around halfway between waypoint 3 and 4. Large drifts and very narrow, extremely difficult to turn around.
Bill Moore Lake (01/27/2023)
Made it to waypoint 4 then turned around before the switchback because of large drifts. Fun but very hard to make it to even waypoint 4 with the snow. Double lockers would probably make it farther.
Mad Creek (12/21/2022)
Awesome trail, wish it was longer! Pretty easy, snow adds a bit of extra difficulty, would be doable by almost any stock SUV when it’s dry. Some moderately rutted areas and small rocky areas but nothing close to an obstacle. The spur is rockier and super fun, not too hard but more difficult than the rest of the trail. Switchbacks at waypoint 2 and 3 are extremely icy so air down and go slow. I’d recommend airing down either way but in the snow it’s a must. Snow gets significantly deeper about 2/3 of the way between waypoint 5 and 6 but I made it to the end no problem with my 32’s aired down to 15psi.
Columbine Road (12/10/2022)
Dirt road nothing special
Bald Mountain Road - Arapaho National Forest (12/10/2022)
Cool dirt road nothing crazy
Nevadaville Road (12/10/2022)
Cool little dirt road
Bald Mountain Lane - Arapaho National Forest (12/10/2022)
Easy connector in Yankee Hill network. Some snow but nothing crazy.
Pisgah (Columbine Cutoff) (12/10/2022)
Very short but very fun trail in the Yankee Hill network. Few inches of snow but it was packed down from being very well traveled. Large group of side by sides being reckless and rude on the trail was pretty frustrating but after letting them pass and waiting a bit it was ok.
Lamartine Road (AKA South Spring Gulch) (12/03/2022)
Entered from Ute Creek Road and completed waypoint 19-1 on 12/3/2022. Nothing of note, moderate snow.
Ute Creek Road (12/03/2022)
Easy and fun, beautiful trail. 2-6 inches of snow along the whole trail, some decent drifts here and there but no issues at all in 4lo on 32’s. Cool way to enter South Spring Gulch and surrounding trails.
Lamartine Road (AKA South Spring Gulch) (12/01/2022)
Completed from waypoint 1 through 10 on 12/1/222. Connector trail at waypoint 10 is extremely dangerous, avoid in the snow. Large drifts, narrow trail and steep drops made it very dangerous for almost any rig. Rest of the trail was normal, several inches of snow and ice in places but not too bad on 32’s.
Trail Creek Road (12/01/2022)
Fun trail lots to see. Obstacle at waypoint 13/14 after the structures was impassable for me but it looks like someone’s passed it at some point so it depends on the rig. Lots of snow and heavily rutted. Turned around here.
Oh-My-God Road (Virginia Canyon) (12/01/2022)
Fun track through Idaho Springs. Did this after South Spring Gulch. Mostly dirt, some pavement. Some snow and ice on the road but not much. Air down if you want but not too much because you will be on paved roads for some time.
Two Brothers Road (12/01/2022)
Very cool trail through Idaho Springs. Did it as a loop with Virginia Canyon Road. Not hard in anyway, almost any vehicle would be fine. Snow along the whole way but not much, a little ice too. Fun scenic route if you’re in the area.
Devil's Canyon (11/18/2022)
Sunny areas were clear but anything shaded had several inches of snow. Some of the spurs were impassable near the end but the whole loop and official trail was all doable no problem. Encountered a newer off-roader in a Tahoe that was stuck, make sure you air down. Snow wasn’t too bad just use 4lo.
Washoe Gulch (10/25/2022)
Whole trail is definitely a 4 now with some places being a 5. Lots of tight narrow spaces some of which were not doable in my Durango. There are some bypasses that have sprung up in the most difficult parts so you can always use those if needed. The obstacle at waypoint 7 was too difficult for my rig, very very tight. Fully built XJs or such are the only vehicles I could see completing it. Definitely run this trail in the direction pictures here. I ran it in reverse and it was not as enjoyable as it could have been. Overall a fun experience but much more difficult than I was expecting.
Sheridan Hill (10/25/2022)
Easy and fun, nothing too crazy here. Very tight in some spots so watch out for other vehicles.
Yankee Hill Summit Climb (10/25/2022)
Not too hard, 4lo is a must and take it slow. Pick a good line and watch out for loose rocks. The climb is pretty easy but the descent gets extremely narrow in some places and impassable for larger vehicles due to tight trees. A few minor obstacles that may cause trouble for stock or small lifted vehicles. Just be cautious and take a good angle and you’ll be fine, skid plates and rock sliders will help.
Cumberland Gulch (10/25/2022)
First part of the trail is the hardest but if you can get past that it’s easy, just some larger rocks and ruts, nothing too crazy. Rocky all the way but a fun short trail and a good way to enter the Yankee Hill network.
Democrat Mountain (10/17/2022)
Super fun offshoot from Bard Creek. Completed in a 1st gen Durango with a 2” lift and 32” tires. No major obstacles but very rocky, narrow and steep. Almost the entire way is uphill. Several spots required a good line but nothing too crazy. Narrow so watch out for others and try to let faster drivers pass. Don’t take this trail if you value your paint. Very fun overall.
Bard Creek (10/17/2022)
Easy, fun and beautiful. Very cool trail running most of the time along the creek. Sweet views all along. No major obstacles at all just rocky.
Trail Creek Road (10/15/2022)
Fun, easy and lots to see. Lots of awesome old mining structures. One small, moderately technical section past the larger mining structures but nothing difficult. Rocky enough to be fun but not hard, very interesting and lots to get out and see.
Ute Creek Road (10/15/2022)
Very easy, nothing of note. Any high clearance 4wd will have no issues. Some cool stuff along the way but not much, just a fun easy trail.
Lamartine Road (AKA South Spring Gulch) (10/02/2022)
Not hard but very rocky. Lots of cool off shoots along this trail, completed it after Cascade Creek. Very fun
Cascade Creek (10/02/2022)
Very fun, completed in a 1st gen Durango with a 2” lift and 32” tires. Several pretty difficult obstacles, a jeep with 35” or bigger would have no issues. A lift and 4lo are required. Pretty muddy and the obstacles required a good spotter and a fair bit of throttle. Would be a lot easier in the dry season but definitely doable and very rewarding.
Devil's Canyon (10/01/2022)
Completed several times in a 1st gen Durango with a 2” lift and 32” tires. No issues at all. Very fun, beautiful trail with a great loop, lots of cool views. Can be difficult when crowded just watch out and be alert. No obstacles or problems.
