Tyler fell in love with off-roading and camping while exploring the north Georgia mountains while in high school. After college, he moved to Tampa, Florida where the opportunities to go off-roading and camping was few and far between. A few years ago, Tyler, his wife and two kids, moved to Colorado where they quickly embraced the outdoor lifestyle. They traded in their F250 and 32 foot camper for a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and rooftop tent. Most weekends, Tyler and his family can be found exploring the mountains of Colorado in search of awesome trails and epic campsites, the more remote the better!

Powerline East Road (03/30/2023)
This is definitely a fun trail. Slightly more difficult near the end but overall and fairly simple trail. You can easily get through the whole thing in a stock 4x4 with decent ground clearance. There are a few ruts on the back half that’ll give you fits if your in a Subaru or something similar. There aren’t many views so don’t come down the trail if you’re looking for those. But overall the trail itself is an enjoyable one.
Schubarth Trail (02/11/2023)
Once you get into the trees the trail is pretty snow packed. Easily driven with 4WD. The views are great in the beginning and get swallowed up by the trees. The end of the trail is anticlimactic. Overall a pretty easy trail.
Rampart Range Road (02/11/2023)
The open portion is mostly snow packed but nothing to be concerned with. Drove from monument to woodland park without issue and only passed a handful of other vehicles!
Beaver Creek Road FS Rd. 315 (02/04/2023)
The majority of the trail is covered in snow. It’s Been pretty heavily trafficked so the snow is pretty well packed and is easily traversed in a high clearance 4x4.
Mount Herman Road (01/27/2023)
Took the kids out for a quick trail ride. Due to recent snow fall the majority of the trail is snow packed. The snow is still grippy but could be intimidating for a less experienced driver or someone with less capable tires. Passing oncoming traffic could definitely be an issue in some areas.
Mount Herman Road (01/15/2023)
Went up today for a short afternoon ride. There were a few spots of ice and snow but nothing to be too concerned with. I only went to waypoint 4 before turning around and heading back to the east.
Fins and Things (10/12/2022)
WHAT A BLAST! I ran this in my 21 Gladiator Rubicon with a 2 inch lift and aired down 35 inch tires. If you’re going to run this in a gladiator or something with a longer wheel base I highly recommend a hitch skid. We took most of the difficult lines and on a majority of them we rubbed our hitch. The obstacles are great because they slowly build your confidence if you’ve never done a trail this technical! Highly recommend!
Klondike Bluffs Escape via Baby Steps (10/11/2022)
An extra set of eyes is very helpful for this trail. Like the description says the conditions of this trail change constantly. Most of the rocks, both big and small, are constantly being moved by weather and vehicle traffic. We ran this trail downhill and it wasn’t too bad.
Eye of the Whale (10/11/2022)
Fun trail. The steep hill wasn’t difficult. I didn’t have any issues in my Gladiator in 4h with aired down 35 in Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws. The sandy portions were fun to open it up a little bit. Be mindful of oncoming traffic.
Klondike Bluffs (10/11/2022)
Fun trail and the dinosaur tracks are a definite bonus. A few technical sections which added some spice to the trail. We ran it in a ‘21 Gladiator Rubicon with a Mopar 2 inch lift and 35s without any issues.
Shafer Trail (10/10/2022)
Great trail that offers even better views! The switch backs look more intimidating than they actually are. There are plenty of pull offs and plenty of room to pass oncoming traffic. The views from the top or worth the drive up.
Potash Road (10/10/2022)
Great trail with amazing views. Due to recent rain there are a few rutted sections when coming from the east. Luckily they weed out a lot of the tourist traffic.
Rimrocker (10/08/2022)
We ran this trail over the course of 2 days from Montrose to Moab. Up until you reach Nucla, the trail is a mixture of pavement and forest service roads. The only real obstacles are the open range cattle. We did not air down until we got back on the dirt after Nucla. The first water crossing was low and easy to traverse. The majority of the trail is easy with only a few small obstacles which a stock 4x4 could tackle. In my honest opinion Waypoint 47 the “epic campsite” should be removed. It’s a small clearing on the side of the road. We initially were planning to camp there but found a truly epic campsite further east. I would have been very disappointed had we pushed further to make it to that campsite. As you cross into Utah the road goes back to a forest service road. There are a few miles closer to Moab that become extremely rocky and almost to the point of torturous if you’re in a hurry to get to Moab. All in all it’s a great trail and as previously stated, Fall is the perfect time to do the trail due to all of the fall colors.
