Steel Bender (04/02/2023)
Nice trail with a number of water crossings mixed with good climbs to get back out. Everything from slickrock and sand wash, ledges and drops. There are a few routes you can take through here, so recommend you bring a good map. The exit you can either try to come back down the way you came in (the loop) or head south towards the Flat Pass route - this gets more intense than the loop.
Sego Canyon (04/01/2023)
We took a ride up this trail but with many wet and snowy days in these parts, it became very muddy. Decided to turn back instead of destroying the road and rutting it even further.
Salt Valley Road (04/01/2023)
Decent dirt road - lots of camping and boondocking out in the BLM and Forest lands, and you can see many got stuck in the mud. So a lot of this road is very rutted and trenched in some places. However, still very passable by almost any vehicle, and a great way to get into Arches NP, or over to the Tower Arch area and Marching Men.
Sevenmile Rim (04/01/2023)
This trail has a little bit of everything, and I recommend you give yourself more time than you think you need. Lots of great spots to just enjoy great overlooks, and take a few small breaks near arches. Slickrock, off camber, sand wash, crawling - you get a little bit of everything here!
Ajo Mountain Loop (02/25/2023)
Really nice trail to visit the east side of Organ Pipe Cactus NM. There are lots of sections of the road that are dirt and they have it mixed with paved areas to protect from erosion. Most any vehicle will have no issue on this road.
Dagger Flat Auto Trail (01/02/2023)
While this is more a dirt road suitable for almost any vehicle, the payout comes in the large giant dagger yucca forest at the end. A great place to grab lunch!
Black Gap Road (12/31/2022)
Nice road, and a good option is bringing a Jeep to Big Bend. Most everything around here is dirt road suitable for everyday passenger vehicles, and you will find a few to get out to Black Gap. There is only one obstacle that is a little challenging and that is only when you are shooting the gap. It has a small 24" ledge at the beginning if coming in from the north, but then most any high-clearance vehicle can make it through the rest.
River Road (12/28/2022)
There can be some rough spots on the west side, but the east is passable by almost any vehicle. Still would recommend higher clearance. Lots of dirt road, washboarding, and then driving through washes and great views. Not a bad way to end Black Gap road
Glenn Springs Road (12/28/2022)
Nicely kept dirt road accessible to almost any vehicle. A nice way to get to Black Gap 4x4 road.
Old Maverick Road (12/27/2022)
Nice dirt road that leads from the West gate to the Santa Elena Canyon. Lots of washboarding on this road, but open to any vehicle.
Robledo Loop (12/11/2022)
Nice trail though some of the markings are off. There are a bunch of smaller trails and illegal routes through here, so use a good map to see where you should be. Lots of good little obstacles and many have bypasses.
